Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in South Korea, Paul gained the eye and the understanding of both the Eastern and Western cultures. Living over ten years both in Korea and the States, Paul is perfectly fluent in speaking both Korean and English, which led to big opportunities to collaborate with renowned clients in both countries (e.g., OnDemand Korea, KQ Entertainment, CJ E&M, HBO, Roku, Hulu, Apple Music).

 

Paul earned his MFA in Cinematography from Chapman University, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts under the mentorship of Bill Dill, ASC, and Johnny Jensen, ASC.

 

Paul fell in love with cinematography by its capability of capturing the nature of existence frame by frame, may it be the beauty of a landscape, the characteristic of a place or country, the story of a person or a community, or the emotions of humankind. Therefore, Paul aims to capture and share the essence of life, which people may or may not have experienced and encountered in their lives, visually through the lens and onto the screen.
